Elaheh Vojgani holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Statistics and Mathematical Statistics from the University of Tehran, Iran, before specializing in Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics. She obtained her PhD from the University of Göttingen, Germany, where she focused on genomic prediction of phenotypic traits in plant breeding. Following her PhD, she joined the University of Cologne as a postdoctoral researcher, where she develops and applies advanced computational approaches and statistical models to analyze high-dimensional human genetic data.
Elaheh Vojgani works on a range of statistical approaches in the analysis of human genetic data, including both method development and application. Her research focuses on whole genome analysis, including genome-wide association studies (GWAS), meta-analysis, integrating pathway-based analyses, and polygenic risk score (PRS) development, with the goal of identifying genetic factors underlying complex traits and disorders. She has contributed to studies on the genetic architecture of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, cognitive performance and epilepsy to enhance the understanding of disease mechanisms. Her work also spans diverse areas including the genetic factors influencing susceptibility and severity of diseases like COVID-19. In addition to her research, she has teaching experience in statistical genetics and bioinformatics and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance human genetics and precision medicine.
